The Coalition for College Cost Savings (CCCS) is comprised of a group of non-profit higher education member organizations dedicated to helping institutions improve business processes and contain costs through collaboration. The Alabama Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (AAICU) is a charter member and board member for this organization. CCCS is comprised of 24 member organizations in 22 states that collectively serve 579 private colleges and over 1,100,000 students across the United States.

The Coalition for College Cost Savings, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded on the idea that collaboration among smaller independent colleges and universities could yield greater strength in the purchasing marketplace, cost reduction in institution purchasing, and more efficient business operations. The unique feature of this coalition of colleges is the primary focus on the sharing of information and resources so that every institution, regardless of size, can retain negotiating power in their low-dollar transactions. CCCS will provides programs, materials and resources necessary to support the business operations needs of its member organizations and their member institutions. CCCS encourages collaboration among private college consortia and their members to control the costs of education to:

a. Serve as a catalyst for sharing of business practices, information, and support
b. Encourage cost reduction and process change resulting in more efficient business operations
c. Identify and create large volume agreements accessible by all participating institutions
d. Provide opportunities to negotiate goods and services not available to smaller institutions

Membership in CCCS is required to participate in the contracts offered through the Coalition. A nominal annual membership fee is paid by each member organization on behalf of their institutions.
