Huntingdon College, grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition of the United Methodist Church, is committed to nurturing growth in faith, wisdom, and service and to graduating individuals prepared to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Founded in 1854, Huntingdon is a coeducational liberal arts college. Through the Huntingdon Plan, each full-time student is provided a lap-top computer for use all four years; travel/study experiences as part of the junior or senior year; small classes and personal attention focused on working with students as they discover what they are called to do with their lives; a broad-based liberal arts curriculum; and levelized tuition, ensuring no tuition increases from the freshman through senior years. The College offers more than 20 majors, more than 50 clubs and organizations, 14 academic honoraries, and 16 NCAA-Division III intercollegiate athletic teams. In most cases, placement rates into graduate and professional schools greatly exceed national averages. Huntingdon College is consistently listed among U.S. News and World Report's annual list of "America's Best Colleges" and in the Princeton Review's annual publication, The Best Colleges: Region by Region. The campus, a 71-acre naturally picturesque park adjacent to Montgomery's beautiful Old Cloverdale neighborhood, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The College motto is "Enter to grow in wisdom; go forth to apply wisdom in service."
